I got this information in from a reader its in regards to the Take2 patch for the non-US versions of Rogue Spear.
Unfortunately, the 2.04 patch is as you suspect, for the US version of the game only; the non-US patch should be released shortly. Sorry about this.

This is the offical word from Red Storm on the "Black Screen of death"
After I join a multiplayer game, my screen goes black, and I never connect.
This problem occurs when the server has allow armpatches turned on and the client has armpatches turned off. We are currently looking into this problem. As a workaround, there are two solutions.

  1. The server should turn allow armpatches off in the server options.
  2. The client should turn armpatches on in the mp game section of the options screen.
This info is also available on the RSE FAQ.

Also the Rogue Spear patch is out. Here is a list of it's improvements.

  • Found and eliminated some bandwidth hogs in multiplayer.
  • Fixed the pink areas and bad text on Permedia 2 cards.
  • Fixed the crash when playing back a replay that was recorded with AutoRun turned on.
  • Fixed a potential lockup if a player jumps off a ledge while AIs are following.
  • The "Invert" option on the joystick remapping screen should work correctly now.
  • Fixed auto-aim being turned on when the player attempts to switch teams during the early stages of a death motion.
  • Players who join while a game is ongoing no longer send their armpatches immediately but rather wait for the next game to start. This fixes the problem of players joining during the action causing a lag for everyone.
  • Added a new multiplayer only map called "Bunkers".
  • Fixed the short freeze that occurred when selecting "Mission Orders" from the briefing screen.
  • Replaced "Ready To Continue" messages on multiplayer results screens with ready indicator in player list.
  • Server can force the game to continue past the results screen after a multiplayer game instead of waiting for all players to click continue by pressing the forward arrow a second time.
  • Disable the observer mode key when running a replay.
  • Kick out terrorists in terrorist hunt / lone wolf farther if they are in the same room as the insertion zone / base. If they are in a different room, they can be anywhere. This reduces the incidents of terrorists starting off right in the team's face.
  • Adjusted which weapon skill was used at what zooms. Full submachinegun zoom now uses full assault skill, instead of using a bit of sniper skill.
  • AIs will now call "Clear!" once they have cleared a room.
  • Changed the Steyr AUG to use the rifle reticule to stop confusing players.
  • Removed the intermediate zoom level on the G36K.
  • Changed the "if you are zoomed, you can only walk" to be "if you are zoomed more than an MP-5 can zoom, you can only walk". This is 3X.
  • Loosened some of the server-side gunshot validation checks to lessen the penalties for high-ping players.
  • Improvements to the camera code to eliminate some cases of the camera being outside of the world after dying.
  • Added support for Creative's EAX.DLL so more players can get EAX effects.
  • Improved the support for foreign keyboards in the remapping screen by detecting keys that are in a different location from a US keyboard.
  • The forced time delay between trigger pulls is no longer increased if you are wounded.
  • Character scaling in the X and Z directions is now capped between 0.1 and 1.0 to avoid a cheat that allowed players to run faster than they should.
  • The Rommel.CXP file now goes through the mod system properly so it can be edited as part of a mod.
  • Fixed some bad character models in the Train Yard Lone Wolf and Terrorist Hunt missions.
  • Changed default player selection on multiplayer results screens to be local player instead of first player.
  • Updated formatting and contents of multiplayer RSResults*.log files.
  • Added an option to RSConfig to force fullscreen and run DXDiag. Added some system information.
  • Reduced problems with flashing during loading sequences.
  • Loading screens will continue to animate while waiting for others to finish their loads instead of stopping the animation and appearing to freeze the system.
  • Multiplayer games will not start in cooperative multiplay until all active and observer players have finished loading.
  • Disconnecting users in a multiplayer game will no longer alert terrorists with a death noise.
  • Server locks the game temporarily during the countdown sequence to prevent other users from joining and halting the game start.
  • Fixed a number of problems with text being truncated or cut off improperly.
  • Custom armpatches no longer show up on some terrorists in multiplayer terrorist hunt missions.
  • Fixed problem with some characters causing the truncation of the rest of the string (most common with higher ascii, accented characters).
  • Ten lines of chat are now allowed.
  • Chat will now wrap if it is longer than the width of the screen.
  • Eliminated "ghost" Rogue Spear task on taskbar when you quit game.
  • Fixed the body armor assigned to certain terrorists.
  • Made some cosmetic adjustments to the rangefinder portion of the binocular reticule.

Awhile back there was a lot of fuss about "Llyods Mod 4.0" having a virus on. But here's some info on wether it's true or not...

Our Virus Lab. has checked the file, LWM4.exe, from your web site and report the following:
"The LWM4.exe file detected as "Backdoor.IMailer" by another anti-virus product is harmless. It looks like a false alarm. The file is an installer using a product called Paquet Builder. It is the Paquet Builder software that the other anti-virus product detects."

Greg Stelmack, Rogue Spear Core Engineer and all-around nice guy has posted some information on the forum about one of the problems the patch will address. Specifically this is about the problems some people reported about Tangos starting to close during Terrorist hunt missions. Tangoes will never start within about 4 meters of the insertion zone (or either base in a multiplayer game) and will always be facing away from the closest base. They will not turn to engage until you make some noise.

The only level I'm aware of where this works out particularly bad is the Docks, and this is because you start in water so can easily make noise. But I can still beat that level by myself if I'm very quiet and sneaky (the key to terrorist hunt).

However, many people feel the same way you do about having them start out close. We talked quite a bit about ways to change that without messing up terrorist hunt as a whole (for example, you can't simply expand the distance without potentially using up too much of the map, leaving you no room for 30 terrorists). For the patch we think we've come up with a good compromise that is working well during testing:

A terrorist cannot start within 6 meters of the zone / base IF that would put them in the same room as the zone / base. If they are in a different room, they can be anywhere. So, they can now be just on the other side of the wall you start next to and in a different room, but if they start outside with you they will be somewhat farther away. With this new algorithm, I haven't yet had anyone start right near the insertion zone in the docks, and things seem better spread out on the other levels. Players here who did not like the in-your-face terrorists of the original like this new placement much better. -- Greg

Also I got some e-mails about the counter on top of the menu. They said that it was displaying wierd messages. The only thing that I can find is that if you have a second web browser running it displays something like "rsr.******** invalid site" ******** changes depending on what you view with the other browser. Sorry about this just ignore it.

More stuff from Rogue Spear Database about yet another big mod introduced to the world.
AF RS Mod 1.1 is out, here's the scoop:
The long awaited AF RS Mod 1.1 is now ready for download. The mod includes one map mod which is a modified Sargasso Fade. It allows the tower to be a starting point in multiplayer. The mod also includes 30 new weapons - ranging from the silenced Barett to the M203 gren. launcher.
The mod comes with an easy to use installation program which will soon be modified along with other releases of the mod. Also, we currently know of a minor bug; 2 or 3 of the weapons may not show their RSB picture - we are not sure why this is but will be fixed asap. Please report any other bugs to us that you may encounter.

Right I have now gone from annoyed to surpised and confused because this morning at my frontdoor step there was my copy of Rogue Spear!! Despite the fact that my mail ordering company said it would be two weeks. I'm not compaining or anything just stunned!
Anyway for the 30mins i've been playing i'm already through the first two levels and i'm on the third now. All I can say is "WOW" & "AMAZING" ect. ect.

First off I'm rather annoyed. Why I hear you say, well the shops don't have Rogue Spear and the mail odering company I use say they won't have it until late OCTOBER!!
Anyway on a lighter note Rogue Spear Command has yet another person added to the team. His name is Tom Carson and he is the new Co-Webmaster, Artist and Writer for Rogue Spear Command. So expect to see alot of him around.
